Telnet not working?

Problem: In some firmware versions the telnet protocol has not been enabled.

Solution: Use the serial console (Generation-I hardware; or Generation-II hardware with a 9-pin serial port which is not very common but does occur) to add the telnet protocol to your router as follows:

> ip portname add telnet 23/tcp
> config save
> flashfs update
> restart

When your router restarts, you should be able to use telnet.
