How to "stealth" your DSL-50X ADSL router

The way to "stealth" all the ports on your DSL-500/DSL-504 ADSL router is to setup a DMZ and set the DMZIP address to one of your private IP addresses that is not being used in your network (eg 192.168.0.254).

To fully "stealth" your DSL-500/DSL-504 (Gen-I) ADSL router you will also need to upgrade its firmware to at latest version R2.21.002.0x.b13au so that you can disable its responding to pings from the Internet on its WAN port. The new ping setting is found on the Maintenance->Remote Administration Access page. (This feature does not currently (Jan 2004) appear to have been added to the firmware for Gen-II models.)

Save the router settings and reboot. Run your favourite test from outside of your LAN and all the ports should now show up as being "stealthed".
