This chart compares the features of various popular combination ADSL modem/routers which are available for sale in Australia.
All the information in this chart has been obtained from product manuals, manufacturer/distributor web sites and from my personal experience in the case of the Netcomm NB1300, D-Link DSL-500 (Gen-I) and Billion 741GE (V1). Additionally, a number of Whirlpool users have provided corrections to my original data.
Damion has generously provided the Draytek Vigor 2500WE and 2600WE information for the comparison chart. I extrapolated from that information to include the non-wireless Vigor 2500 and 2600 models.
mce has generously provided the Web Excel PT-3808 information for the comparison chart.
Thanks to David from Netgear Inc who has provided most of the information for the Netgear DM602, DG814 and DG824M routers (which was checked against the technical reference manuals :).
If you notice an error in the chart, PLEASE let me know - you will need to specify the manufacturer, the model and firmware version and exactly what it is that is incorrect. Thanks!
The information for the Billion devices was checked for accuracy by the Australian distributors and Billion in Taiwan (as at 22 July 2003).
The information for the Draytek Vigor devices was checked for accuracy by the Australian distributors (as at 8 August 2003).
The information for the Netgear devices was largely provided by Netgear Inc (as at 18 September 2003).
If you think that there is some feature(s) which should be included in the chart, please let me know. Thanks!
I have tried to include the most popular ADSL routers. If your ADSL router is not listed and you can provide the information necessary to populate the comparison table, then send it to me and I will include it.
A very useful ADSL Modem/Router Guide is maintained by yours truly at the Whirlpool site in the ADSL Hardware Forum.
I maintain a comprehensive information resource for D-Link DSL-500 and DSL-504 ADSL routers here including an SNMP utility program for Windows platforms.
I also maintain a growing information resource for the Billion BIPAC-741GE and BIPAC-743GE ADSL routers here including an SNMP utility program which also acts a Syslog server for Windows platforms.
